OUR MISSION...
Team ACL has a unique mission involving a three step prevention and recovery process tailored specifically for female athletes. The first step is a STRETCHING PROGRAM with educational and instructional videos to help strengthen the muscles usually concerned with ACL tears. The second step is to create a light weight, low profile BRACE MODEL designed to prevent women from tearing their ACL's. Finally, the third step, is to create a DIET PLAN for injured athletes that will promote healing.

WHO IS TEAM ACL?
Three best friends hoping to make a difference in the world!
Regan King
Regan is a two sport year round athlete. She plays field hockey both with her high school team as well as a club team where she has attended Nationals twice and travelled all over the east coast competing. She also sails on the Severn high school team. She is also the co-president of the Introduction to Medical Studies Club with Kylie Paquin. She is interested in this topic because she wishes to further her career in the medical sciences in college.
Kylie Paquin
Kylie is a dedicated year round student-athlete. She plays lacrosse for her club team, Cclax. and for Severn highschool. After Kylie had torn her ACL for the first time she gave up soccer to try field hockey at severn her sophomore year. Because Kylie has played high impact sports her whole life, she is no stranger to injuries. She had two ACL reconstructive surgeries on her right knee. Kylie is currently in the recovery process from her second ACL surgery she had in December of 2019. Driven by her love for sports Kylie wants to dedicate herself to research regarding knee braces, stretching programs, and diets so other highly competitive athletes such as herself are better educated on ACL prevention and recovery. Her past experiences with physical therapy has inspired Kylie to pursue a future career in medicine in hopes she can impact the lives of other young athletes.
Emma Duguay
Emma is also a two sport athlete. She plays field hockey and lacrosse for Severn School, as well as club lacrosse outside of school. Knee injuries have always been a lacrosse player’s worst nightmare, so she has always been motivated to prevent ACL tears. After a few of her close friends (and her brother!) suffered debilitating knee injuries playing lacrosse, she began to wonder why ACL tears were happening to highly active, healthy teenagers. She began to research and found that part of the problem lies in inadequate stretching before activity. Thus began her motivation to create an ACL prevention stretching program for sports, specifically for females. She has also always had an interest in pursuing biomedical engineering or physical therapy, professions that each relate to this Fellows Project.
